Day 3
|
Beijing (B/L/D) Start your fascinating journey with a visit to the splendid Temple of Heaven and the Hall of Prayer for Bountiful Harvest. On the way, see how the local people spend their morning. Then visit the Hutong and take a leisurely stroll through the 700-year old narrow, winding streets that surround the Forbidden City by pedicab. Afterwards, tour the Yindian Bridge and the Shichahai Bar Street. En-route, stop at the Silk and Pearl Factory. Tonight, enjoy dinner at a local Chinese restaurant followed by an amazing Chinese acrobatic show.

Day 4
|
Beijing (B/L/D) After breakfast, visit the National Centre for the Performing Arts also known as “The Egg”. Head to Tian An Men Square where Mao Tse Tung first raised the flag of the People’s Republic. Then tour the Imperial Palace, also called the Forbidden City and its garden. In the afternoon, visit the exquisite Summer Palace, a former retreat for the Imperial family. En-route, stop at the infamous Silk Alley Street, Tea House and Tongrentang Medicine Institute. In the evening, enjoy the Golden Mask Dynasty show.

Day 5
|
Beijing (B/L/D)
Experience the unforgettable! Visit one of the world’s most remarkable sights – the Great Wall of China (Juyongguan section), built over 2,000 years ago by Emperor Qin. The Great Wall stretches over 6,000 km across the top of China. En-route, stop at the Jade & Cloisonne Factory. Late afternoon return to the hotel, and pass by the Olympic Park for a photo stop. End the tour with a visit to Wangfujing Street and Donghuamen Snack Street.

Day 6
|
Beijing - Chengde (B/L/D)
Depart for Chengde, originally called Rehe, once the summer resort capital of the Qing Dynasty (1644-1911). En-route visit the Jingshan Park. Upon arrival, explore the Royal Summer Resort, also called Rehe Temporary Palace which was originally built for the royal families to spend the hot summer months. Overnight at the Tianbao Holiday Hotel - 4* or similar.

Chengde - Beijing (B/L/D)
In the morning, visit the numerous temples of Waibamia. After lunch, depart for Beijing; en-route visit the Capital Museum. In the evening, visit The Place - a shopping mall near the Silk Market. Stay two nights at Chang An Grand Hotel - 4* or similar.

Day 8
|
Beijing - Tianjin - Beijing (B/L/D) Today, embark on a full day excursion to Tianjin, one of the five natural central cities of China. Its name means 'the place where the emperor crossed the river'. Upon arrival, taste some local food at Tianjin Food Street and then take a walk along Culture Street. Stop at Tianhou Temple dedicated to the Goddess of the Sea. Late afternoon, return to Beijing.

Depart Beijing (B) Morning is free at leisure. During the afternoon, head to the airport for your return flight home!

Entry Regulations: Passports must be valid for at least six months from the date of entry into China. A visa is necessary to enter China. You will need to fill out an application form, 1 passport size photo and your passport to obtain an entry visa.
Please check with your country’s Foreign Affairs office to find out about entry requirements for non-Canadians and Americans.
Climate: The size of China ensures that its climate is extremely diverse, ranging from tropical in the south to sub arctic in its northern latitudes. Winter in the north, between December and March, is bitterly cold and very dry, with temperatures in Beijing dropping as low as -4ºF (-20ºC). During summer, May to August, rain falls and temperatures soar. In central China the Yangtze River valley experiences long, humid and hot summers between April and October, while in winter temperatures drop below freezing. In south China, around Guangzhou, summer brings typhoons and high temperatures between July and September. Winters are short and chilly.
Currency: The Yuan Renminbi is the basic unit of currency in mainland China, the Hong Kong Dollar in Hong Kong and Macau Pataca in Macau. At present, the exchange rate is CNY6.77 to CAD$1 and CNY6.53 to USD$1; As exchange rates fluctuate each day, please check the current exchange rate near your date of travel.
Electricity: The current used in China is 220AC 50Hz.
Tip: This system may differ from the one you use at home. If it is different, please purchase an adaptor from a travel store near you, to take advantage of the power ports in your hotel room.
Language: The official language in China is Mandarin along with hundreds of local dialects.
Health Requirement: Normally, vaccinations are not longer required unless one travels from or via an infected area. Check with your local health authority for further requirements.
Airport Facilities and Tax: China has various ports of entry. The international airport in the capital city is the Beijing Capital International Airport. Departure taxes are formulated into the price of the airline ticket.
Shopping: Bargaining is common in China. Other than Friendship stores where prices are fixed, shoppers should bargain anywhere they shop. Friendship stores are popular with most foreign visitors as they are well stocked and can arrange shipping.
Cuisine: Chinese cuisine has a long history and is one of China’s cultural treasures. Local flavors and snacks and special dishes have formed according to regions, local products, climate, historical factors and eating habits.
